Time Square in New York
February 28, 2004
|

Time square was an unexpected visit. Walking from the Empire State
building and getting dinner we happen to walk through it. |

It reminded you of a small section of Las Vegas. |

New York is alive all night and never goes to asleep. |
|

Another view of Time Square. |

The lights, advertisements and people were great. |

Empire State Building
February 28, 2004
|

The Empire State Building. A must see if you go to New
York. Since it was our first time we had to see it. |

The New York sky line was something else. The security
check lines were long to wait through, but it was well worth it. |

Seeing each section of New York, from the Financial
district, to Queens. |
|

The Statue of Liberty from the Empire State Building. |

The sky was amazingly clear and you could see very far. |

Looking down from the top. |
|

Another view. |

A picture from the top. Not a good one with the wind blowing. |

Looking at the viewing tower on one of the four sides. |
|

The top of the tower. Once they were going to plan on
the Blimp to dock here and let people off. Because winds reach 110
mph that was scratched from the plans. |

Snow tubing at Camelback Mountain
February 21, 2004
|

We took advantage of the warmer day to go snow tubing.
It was in the 40's and although that may seem chilly it's better then 20's. |

Camelback is one of several mountains close by
where you can ski or snowtube. We didn't want to chance to break
anything. So |

The lifts take you up to the top and you slide down.
The family tubes fit four. Going down together was a lot more fun to do. |
|

A shot of the two slides for family tubes. For $18.00
you get three hours to get in line and go up and down as many times
as you want/can. |

The ones before us getting pushed off. |
Philadelphia Art Museum
February 08, 2004
|

From the steps of the Art Museum you can see the skyline of Philadelphia.
The museum took us 4 visits to see most of it all. On Sunday they
offer a donation only, instead of the full price. So we took
advantage of Sundays.
|

These were the same steps they filmed Rocky running up on his victory
in getting shape. Denny had to run up them too, but never could of
run the several miles Rocky ran to get to them. |

There was a huge amount of art in the museum and every room took you
into the culture of the art. For an example a room was decorated as a
church to show the art of religions
|
|

These pate-sur-pate designed items is a technique where they build up
the white porcelain layer by layer on the side. |

Click on the photo's to see the high detail, |

The detail was amazing. |
|

Another room showed armour used. |

Then the modern art area. This one was called splotch. |

The fine design of this Chalice was made in 1870. It was worth the photo. |
|

Made of Plaster, Bee's Wax and Human Hair. This was a different Art
Exhibit. Notice that it has two left legs. |

Liberty Bell & Independence Hall
February 7, 2004
|

We went to Philadelphia and stayed over night to see the Liberty
Bell, Independence Hall, and the Art Museum. This was one of the side
streets in Philadelphia. It looked like Rocky should come running by.
Fire barrels at every corner to keep warm. |

The security lines were long to see it, but the Liberty Bell was
quite impressive at it's new location. |

Independence Hall was quite informative to see were the Declaration
Of Independence was drafted. |
|

This was a neat photo of the upper area. The sun shining off the top
window gave it that proud look. |

Several rooms of Independence Hall |

The armory area |
|

The hall where they held formal dinners |

Some of the floor panels were still original. |

Some of the original glass panes were wavy, showing their age. |
|

Another gathering room. |

The court section. Where the symbol of arms from England above the
bench was ripped down after America claimed its Independence |

The new Independence display |

The room were the Declaration of Independence was drafted. |
