The Hohokam tribe lived in the area for many years prior to the
construction of the Casa Grande in 1350AD. Around 1450 the Casa
Grande was abandoned for unknown reason. |

Its amazing something built back then still stands today. |

Entry into the Casa Grande is prohibited, but you can still walk up
to it and look inside. |
|

The structure was thought to be used also as an observatory. Some of
the windows and port holes align with the sun at different times of
the year. Giving knowledge that they used this to observation to plan
crops and prepare for weather. |

A cover was constructed over the site to protect the Casa Grande
Ruins from the weather. |

This site is a Gem in the AAA Club Tourbook and I also seen it in
Country Discoveries Magazine. This is a must see Monument if you are
in the area. |
