It was great to see the sculptures being built slowly. We got some sun and enjoyed the weather. Low 80's during the day and high 50's at night. It beat the heat we were getting in Palm Springs.

Living Desert
Rancho Mirage, California
July 19, 2003

The Living Desert Zoo was different then any other zoo. They used the surrounding area to make up a Africa area and California desert zoo. These Cheetah's were enjoying the shade.

This displayed the different size of wild animals. Comparing it to a house cat.

An African Warthog was funny with getting out of the mud hole and going over to the Female Warthog and nudging her to move over so he could have the spot.

The Giraffe display was different.

You can see by this photo the long 16 inch tongue they have to reach branches.

The Camel was making a lot of sounds when some one came to visit him.

The Badger was still wandering around in the heat of the day.

The zoo has a state-of-the-art equipment to rescue animals bought to it locally. This Cheetah was so tame that it was raised with a Golden Lab Retriever from a young age. And today thinks the dog is a brother.

Denny did not take much photo's the animals. Because of having photo's from other zoo's they visited.

Cedar Mountain
Cedar City, Utah
July 4-6, 2003

Cedar Mountain is about 8 1/2 hour drive from Palm Springs by motorhome. We wanted to see our friends from Las Vegas so we joined them in Utah on their getaway to Utah.

The drive was very long and lots of traffic on the holiday weekend, but the view and company was worth the trip and great to see.

Rusty and Angie already were set up and had a nice shady spot for us to set up next to them.

Rusty then gave us a tour of a couple of spots that are his favorites on the mountain.

The lake was busy for the July 4th weekend, but there was plenty of mountain to share and get away from each other.

The four of us by the lake. The weather was fantastic, with it being in the low 80's during the day and high 40's at night.

Navajo Lake was another stop that Rusty showed us. Rusty was explaining the view to Dale.

The Navajo Lake view.

We then took the Jeep and tried a couple of 4-wheel drive spots and tested out it potential.

Another view along the way from the mountain.

Denny and Dale at the view.

Angie and Rusty

Zion overlook was a great view on a clear day. You can see Zion National Park from where we were.

Another 4-wheel drive took us to a top of a hill to catch a view of Cedar mountain.

The jeep was getting dirty, but it was all worth the views we were getting.

The white birch trees were all through out the forest.

We then went to the National Park in Cedar Mountain and took in the breath taking view.

Dale was enjoying while Denny was taking pictures.

Looking down over the edge.

Another view down the canyon.

Rusty with the 1,600 year old tree on the cliff behind him. Oh, by the way did you notice how Rusty looks like Wayne Newton. That's his profession as an entertainer.

Well, unfortunate the weekend had to end. But many thanks to Rusty and Angie for a wonderful 4th of July adventure.
